May 23 - VERSO ILS - Advantages for Consortia 10a - 11a

Greetings!
For decades libraries have worked together to form consortia with the goal of broadening services and sharing resources to benefit the communities they serve. Unfortunately, in many cases technology creates roadblocks that prohibit libraries from fully cooperating. For reasons ranging from automation vendor preference disagreements to contract lock-in, many libraries that could benefit from collaboration have been unable to fully realize those advantages.
Those roadblocks are now a thing of the past. With recent enhancements to the VERSO® integrated library system (ILS), Auto-Graphics has developed a rich set of connectors, features and functions designed to embrace different technology configurations and allow libraries to fully share without displacing their existing technology infrastructure.
We invite you to join us for a FREE, no obligation Webinar to learn how VERSO can help your consortia include more members, increase efficiencies and broaden individual collections and expertise to the benefit of all consortium members.

Who should attend:
• Library Director
• Library Services Personnel
• IT Management
• Technical Services Manager
• Reference Services
• Circulation Manager
For more information on how VERSO can benefit your library or consortia, please contact us at info@auto-graphics.com.

Registration: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/235194305

Sincerely,
The Auto-Graphics Team

June 5-8, 2013
Minneapolis, MN

http://eyeofestival.com/

It’s an exciting time to be interested in art, interaction, and information. The way we experience all three is changing. The way all three interact and overlap is evolving. Access to data and tools continues to enter new realms. What data is—is changing; It’s a social media feed, it’s a physical sensor, it’s a house plant, a novel, it’s open access to oceans of digitized archives and more and more APIs. What can we do with all this data? What can’t we do? Artists, designers and coders build and bend technology and give us a glimpse into what’s possible, into what’s next. Ones and zeros float all around us just waiting to deliver the next new interaction. The Eyeo Festival brings together the most intriguing and exciting people in these arenas today.

Jun 11 - The Future Requires Unlearning

In this fascinating, informative, entertaining, interactive and enlightening presentation, noted global futurist and best-selling author, Jack Uldrich- who has been hailed by BusinessWeek as "America's Chief Unlearning Officer"-will discuss future trends as well as explaining why unlearning is a critical skill for your organization and employees.
The pace of technological change is accelerating. Today's organizations are living in a world where "constant change is the only constant." New advances in biotechnology, nanotechnology, and information technology are bringing forth exciting and unexpected discoveries every day, while the expansive and growing power of the Internet, social networking and the open-source movement are fueling the fires which threaten to consume much of today's existing organizational landscape.

Life-long learning will obviously be more essential than ever in this chaotic and churning environment; but often lost in this new emerging reality of exponential change is the fact that before an organization can seize tomorrow's opportunities it must first unlearn old, obsolete knowledge as well as unlearn the old ways of doing business.
This presentation will demonstrate how unlearning can help:
-Successfully navigate a future where the pace of scientific and technological knowledge is doubling every seven years; and
-Seize opportunities which are, today, only on the periphery of our imagination.

Register by June 1st. Calvert, Charles, and St Mary's Counties should contact the regional library directly. Other MD libraries can get on the list at http://tinyurl.com/cyd8mcb .
