Verbal Judo for Supervisors

It is the responsibility of library managers and supervisors to manage, guide, educate, supervise, and lead our personnel in a way that represents the institution/agency/company well. Therefore, we must lead in a way that uses the language of motivation while realizing that we have a limited amount of human resources. Verbal teaches communication skills that focus on personal safety and how to motivate others.

Participants will be able to:
- Identify specific language during the disciplinary process that focuses on altering future behavior
- Determine how to refrain from using language to express personal feelings.
- Discuss how to manage one-on-one meetings with staff.
- Practice techniques to de-escalate tense encounters

Please register by Sept 10th. St Mary's, Charles, and Calvert county library staff, please contact the regional directly to register. All others may be placed on the waitlist via tinyurl.com/y8vmpvs2 .
